I.
Torrential rains
pour through dilapidated
unintended sky lights
The tornado warning sirens blare
Waters rise
and the Lifeboat we bought
has floated away.
The tornado missed the house…
or did it?
It’s over I say.
Good-bye.
II.
The dream is different this time
instead the Sun casts streams of hope
through darkened skies, filled with ominous warnings
swirling madness, roaring trains
barreling towards us
Inside I rush to save what I can,
disaster imminent.
The widows walk beckons
I have to witness
stormy Monday.
I lost everything
but I didn’t lose me
III.
Freedom ride
roaring over hills and valleys
early autumn in the air
the forecast calls for wicked weather
but I never dream the tornadoes take me.
Houses, trees, people I loved
the things I thought I could save
The sky always clears
And standing still, I remain.
